PE

Week 34:
In addition to our fabulous Monday Yoga, and other PE fun we've been practicing for the Spring Festival- the students did an amazing job this past Saturday.

Week 29:
Our schedule has changed and we now have PE in the Patio. On the rainy day we had Zumba with Mrs. Pierce. It was an absolute blast.

Week 28:
Students were eager to discover tug of war this week. This was a huge hit! We also made it to the beach.

Week 26:
Fleeing and balance games this week.

Also, a huge shout out to Mrs. Hastings for doing such a tremendous job practicing yoga with the ENTIRE school.

Week 25:
This week was all about obstacle courses and Zumba.

Week 24:
A huge thank you to Mrs. Hastings for taking all of first grade and second grade for yoga this week! What an incredible class we had outside. I was blown away by Mrs. Hastings ability to teach all the students outside.

This was at recess, but just had to share it.

Week 23:
Crab walking was a highlight in this week's PE class.

Week 22:

The students have been practicing all sorts of skills during PE: running, jumping, throwing and catching.

Week 16:
This week was all about tennis!

Week 13:
This week we played over under games for gym. Students practiced crawling under a low rope and they also tried to jump over the rope.

Week 12:

This week was all about constructing obstacle courses. This design with the chairs was pretty amazing. You had to throw a ball through the chairs, it would land on the ramp, and then you had to run to the end of the ramp to collect the ball! When it was too windy to play outside we created obstacles in the classroom using our amazing benches.

Week 11:

Our new and improved Geo Dome has been quite the source of excitement these days on the playground. We have been playing "fleeing" games in PE this week. Students chase one another from different corners. This week the chasers were zombies! When a child got tagged they had to hide in the geo dome for 5 seconds. In that time the zombie conversion took place and the child was converted into a zombie. It was pretty scary.

Week 10:
This week we had another fantastic yoga class, and have been working on "Fleeing" games for PE.

Week 8:
Another action packed physical week at Seaside. We did obstacle courses, played in the the tidal pools at the beach, surfed, AND had another fantastic week of Yoga. Thank you Mrs. Harris!

Week 8: Oct. 7
This week even more students got to surf and stand up. I've got to tell you, the waves were pretty big on Thursday, and yet the students were more excited than ever to jump in that water.

Here we are warming up with the pros.

Week 7: Oct 1
We continued to work on passing this week, but even more exciting were our long walks for our field trips and our surfing lessons! Thanks to the Ferguson family for coordinating. This was such an exciting, enriching and community building opportunity for our students.

Week 6: Sept. 23
We really got the swing of eye hand coordination, now we're working on eye foot. This week we mostly worked on passing the ball with the side of our foot, slowly we will move up to kicking and dribbling.

Week 5: Sept 16
We really took it to the next level with our PE this week. We had an exhilarating game of bean bag toss. This was a great activity because it reinforced what we are learning in Math. If the class hit one hoop they got two point, the second hoop was 2 points. Once that got too easy we added a three point bucket.

Week 3
Last week I played a counting game with the class where I tossed a bean bag to students and they tossed it back. I was hoping to get up to 100, but we had some difficulty with the catching. This week we worked on the catching skills a bit more, and I saw major improvements.

Week 2

We had some pretty serious workouts this week in PE. We played a throwing and counting game, and we also did alphabet jumping jacks, 20 high knees, and 10 push ups. I was doing the exercise with the class this week, so I do not have pictures to share. Hopefully next week I"ll be able to get some.

Week 1

In PE this week we did a relay race, and we also played a game with hoola hoops. The relay race was pretty close, it was the Lightning Dragons VS the Sting Rays. The race was so action packed I didn't have time to take any footage.

We also learned how to play cars. This is a great game for the students to learn about personal space. When I say "green light" the class runs inside a designated area. If they bump each other they are out. "Yellow light" means walk, and "red light" means stop.
